This was an event filled year for both myself and for my little shop. I participated in 4 table shows this year (the 5th was rained out), started to work with two new shops to carry my artwork, and debuted several new types of artwork, and took a U/X and Figma design class to learn some new skills. In 2024 I am making it a goal to document more of my process and get some tutorials out there. Also, big shout out & thank you to my customers that keep coming back to commission me for new pieces!

The Events:

Spring Yart 2023

First up was Spring Yart on April 22nd. I debuted a series of ceramic mushrooms and small leaf dishes.

The leaves are made from pressing a real leaves (elephant ear, banana, fig) into a slab of clay. The fly agaric mushrooms came in two different types, the small free standing mushroom groups and the single mushrooms that stick into the ground or flower pot. I also had several small animal sculptures, love how the sea-salt glaze turned out on the rabbit. I have promised a series of sea-salt glazed ceramic animals to some local shops (see below) I hope to be able to get them made for my next ceramics firing this spring.

Night Gallery and Dark Art Market

Show brief:

9/01/23 – A spooky art show just in time for Halloween! Come enjoy the art and take something home to make your own house nice and creepy. Proceeds will help our local animal shelter PAAWS care for and find homes for stray animals! We have lots of local artists that will be here to help you pick just the right thing, and other renowned artists from all over the country have sent their art to help our event and our cause! There will be vendors as well as artists – come celebrate the macabre and help some fuzzy friends at the same time! Facebook Event Link

Night Gallery was a event I had only heard roomers of until this year! After an extended break the hosts of the show opened it back up and I was delighted to finally get to participate. I met so many great artists & had a wonderful time I hope we get to do it all over again next year.

A few shots of the table set up, I was so glad to finally get my faux taxidermy Jackalope sculptures out to an event. Happy to say I sold out of all the Jackalope at this show and many of the BoxCat soft sculptures. I need to do a post about the history of the BoxCats this year, I’m glad they were so well received after bringing them out of retirement.

This show was also a great debut for some Mer-May prints as well as my Cat Wars pet portrait print. Surprisingly the ceramic pumpkins which had been a hit previous years ended up mostly ignored – however that may have been due to a orange pumpkins on orange table cloth situation :)

Fall Yart

Show brief:

10/21/23 – An all-local fine art sale, with nothing priced more than $60. No fees or commission costs mean all art sold will benefit the artists directly! Come meet the makers of your new favorite things. Support local, enjoy a beautiful day at Angel Mounds, and be sure to invite your friends.

After I sold out of Jackalope at The Night Gallery show I rushed to assemble a second set of 3 i had on my workbench and got an additional framed epoxy mushroom series ready. These epoxy mushrooms, while less realistic than the ceramic than the fly agaric I had for Spring Yart, were light enough I could display them in mini frames. I sold out of all the framed mushrooms before the show even stated and knew I needed to get started on another set to go along with a 3rd batch of the Jackalope.

I am very grateful for all the support I received from the local art community this year and hope to keep making artwork you all enjoy. My Online Etsy shop is not currently well stocked because of all in person events – I am glad to avoid most of the transaction fees associated with running a online shop but sad to see my online shelves so bare. You can find a very limited amount of Print On Demand digital artwork at my Redbubble, TeePublic, and Spoonflower. I am working on getting more work posted on these sites but I want everything to be as perfect!

Lets make it a great 2024!
